The Helping Children with Autism Package (HCWA)
This is Early Intervention funding through the Department of Social Services (formerly known as FaHCSIA - Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs).
- Children who have received a diagnosis of an Autism Spectrum Disorder have access to funding up to $12,000 (a maximum of $6,000 per financial year) up till their 7th birthday.
- With a referral from a Paediatrician or Child Psychiatrist, up to 4 Medicare Allied Health Assessments and up to 20 Medicare Allied Health Therapy sessions including Speech Pathology can be claimed to Medicare. This is for a child who is under the age of 13 at the time of diagnosis and under the age of 15 when receiving the services.

Better Start for Children with Disability Initiative (Better Start))
This is Early Intervention funding through the Department of Social Services (formerly known as FaHCSIA - Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs).
- Children who have received a diagnosis of the following disabilities have access to funding up to $12,000 (maximum of $6,000 per financial year) up till their 7th birthday.
- Down syndrome

Cerebral palsy

Fragile X syndrome, or

A moderate or greater vision or hearing impairment, including deaf and blindness.
- Prader Willi syndrome

Williams syndrome
-
Angelman syndrome

Kabuki syndrome

Smith-Magenis syndrome

CHARGE syndrome

Cornelia de Lange syndrome

‘Cri du Chat syndrome or microcephaly.
- With a referral from a Paediatrician or Child Psychiatrist, up to 4 Medicare Allied Health Assessments and up to 20 Medicare Allied Health Therapy sessions including Speech Pathology can be claimed to Medicare. This is for a child who is under the age of 13 at the time of diagnosis and under the age of 15 when receiving the services.

Medicare The Chronic Disease Management (CDM)
(formerly known as Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan)
With a referral from a GP under this scheme, Speech Pathology assessment and therapy can be partially claimed to Medicare up to a maximum of 5 sessions per calendar year.
