Keiko Takenami, M.SpchLngPath., CPSP, MSPA
Keiko graduated with a Master of Speech and Language Pathology from Macquarie University in 2004. Since then, she has had extensive experience in providing assessment and therapy for children with a diverse range of communication difficulties from early age to school age in both public health and private practice. Keiko is dedicated to assisting parents and carers using a flexible family-centred approach, providing continuous opportunities to promote the development of communication and language skills in everyday situations.

As a bilingual individual who has lived in Australia for almost 20 years, Keiko understands anxieties and concerns that are relevant to families from culturally diverse backgrounds. Second language issues, cultural differences and different health and education systems can create extra challenges to families impacted by diverse cultural and language conditions. Keiko is an experienced certified therapist for the Hanen “It Takes Two to Talk”, “More Than Words”, “TalkAbility” and “ABC & Beyond” programs, PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) and MULTILIT Reading Tutor Program (Revised). These programs are widely used for helping children with global developmental delay, Autism Spectrum Disorders, language delay and learning & literacy difficulties. Keiko feels passionate about supporting children and their families using these programs which empower the families and facilitate functional communication development. |
